Why a buyer didn't get pinged

If a buyer you expected never received a ping, the cause is almost always in how the target or lead buyer is set up.

For call targets

  • Its filters ruled the call out. Open the call and look for the target marked filtered: the line says which rule failed. See Target filters.

Check these on the campaign page and on the Targets list:

  1. In the ping tree: the target must be listed under Ping tree and saved. After adding it, click Save tree.
  2. Enabled: the row in the tree must be ticked Enabled.
  3. Target status: it must be active. A paused target is skipped. An auto-paused target (after repeated failed dials) shows an Unpause button on the Targets page.
  4. Concurrency cap: if the target is already handling its maximum number of calls, it is skipped for new ones.
  5. Failover only: a target in a lower tier is dialed only as a backup if an earlier buyer fails to answer. That depends on Tier, and on Failover eligible being ticked.
  6. Nothing reached it at all: if no pings are happening, the call was stopped earlier. See Why a call didn't route.

Use Bid insights to confirm. The Pinged column counts pings to each target. If a target shows zero, it was not reached.

If Pinged is high but Bid is low, the buyer was pinged but declined. Use Test ping on the target form to see the exact request sent and how the reply is read. See RTB targets.

For lead buyers

A lead buyer only receives pings when all of these are true:

  • It is on the leads campaign under Lead buyers, Enabled, and saved with Save lead buyers.
  • Its Status is active.
  • Its Readiness is ready. A lead buyer that shows needs test takes no live traffic until it passes the test console. See Lead test console.
  • The lead includes every field that buyer needs on the ping. A lead missing a required field skips that buyer.

Other reasons for no pings

Pings stop before any buyer when the campaign is paused, the source is not attached, you are at zero credit, the daily cap has been reached, or the caller is a duplicate. See Duplicate callers and caps reached.
